Valencia Travel Tips

When to Visit

Valencia shines all year, but some seasons offer extra perks:

  • Spring (Mar–May): Ideal temps, blooming orange trees, and fewer tourists.

  • Fall (Sep–Nov): Golden sunsets, mild weather, and perfect for photo sessions.

  • Summer (Jun–Aug): Beach season! Just plan around the midday heat.

  • Winter (Dec–Feb): Quiet charm and sunny days with festive energy.

Pro Tip: Venture beyond the city—Valencia's province is full of gems like the stunning coastal town of Peñíscola.

Local Etiquette

  • Greeting: A friendly “Hola” goes a long way

  • Dining: Lunch is big and late (2–4 PM), dinner even later (9 PM+)

  • Tipping: Not required, but rounding up or leaving small change is appreciated

  • Shopping: Many shops close for siesta in the afternoon—plan ahead!

What to Eat

Valencia is the birthplace of paella, but there’s so much more:

  • Horchata & fartons – A must-try local treat

  • Agua de Valencia – A cheeky, citrusy cocktail

  • Tinto de verano – Spain’s summer wine spritz

  • Mercado Central – For fresh fruits, local bites, and vibrant scenes
